Grief is a healthy and normal response to loss. No one person can provide a magic cure for grief. While grieving it is common to feel exhausted: both physically and emotionally as well as spiritually. When grieving you may feel lonely, out of control or isolated. You may not understand why some members of your family do not feel the same way as you. These are all normal feelings and part of the grieving process, which has no agenda or scheduled plan. Don’t be surprised if you start feeling better and then feeling down, as if a wave had hit you. The purpose of healthy grieving is not to “get over” the loss of your pet, but to integrate the loss of a pets death into present life. Eventually, the feelings of sadness will become less difficult and you will be able to talk, smile and share those special memories.
